Against the Oil Bill

(Galveston Daily News, February 27, 1901)

Austin, Texas., Feb. 26-Messrs. J. J. Cleveland and H. G. Damon of Corsicana, directors of Southwestern Oil Company, are here opposing the Beaty-Greer bills intended to regulate the oil well industry. These gentlemen claim the requirement that operators shall provide iron or wooden tanks before boring for oil would work a great hardship upon small operators, and that the big concerns would get the best of them.
